Identify, monitor, and analyze policy issues affecting Facebook in Africa with a specific lens on issues around economic impact, digital literacy and human rights
Provide strategic guidance to the Programs team to help identify, create and implement proactive approaches to policy challenges and risks
Work in partnership with the wider Africa Public Policy team on the strategy for building relationships with policy makers, civil society and academics
Manage the budget for all programmatic activity across the region
Represent Facebook in meetings with key stakeholders
Collaborate and ensure consistency in the delivery and quality of policy programs across the region
Manage the overall strategy of the policy programs team and ensure that key goals and objectives are met
Work with Regional Policy leads to ensure that programmatic plans are meeting wider policy objectives
Provide logistic and/or programmatic execution support when needed
Represent the work of the Africa Policy Programs team internally by communicating key milestones and overall team objectives to cross-functional teams
Minimum Qualification
At least 5-10 years designing and implementing programs in/across Africa, ideally with a focus on digital skills development, entrepreneurship, human rights or digital literacy
Impeccable integrity, passion for human rights and social impact, sound judgment, creativity and the demonstrated ability to think critically and challenge received wisdom
Effective management of a team or departmental budget
At least 5-10 years of management experience
Ability to provide strategic and logistical support for multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and creatively
Passion for technology and its power to address issues related to entrepreneurship, job creation, digital literacy, health and human rights
Ability to travel frequently and extensively across the region
Flexibility to provide a mix of high-level strategy and on-the-ground logistical support when needed (must be willing to “get your hands dirty”)
Passion for Facebook and its mission to make the world more open and connected
Superior written and oral communications skills
Fluency in English (and Portuguese or French ideally, but not required)
