Head of Sustainability & Environmental Sciences – Cape Town (REF CT0095) at JG AFRIKA

JG Afrika is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced natural scientist to head our Sustainability and Environmental division in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and driven individual with the ability to generate and develop new sustainability business interests.

This role will manage a team of professionals with a view to  enhancing and growing a division within an established organisation that has an existing footprint in the environmental sector. The successful incumbent will also drive the integration of sustainability and engineering across all disciplines.

Duties: will include:

• Business development and leadership,
• Team management,
• Marketing,
• Proposal compilation,
• Liaison with clients, authorities and other specialists,
• Environmental screening,
• Technical studies/investigations,
• Report writing,
• Public participation,
• ECO auditing, and
• Quality control.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management / Sciences or relevant field
• MSc in Environmental Management / Sciences or relevant field will be an advantage.
• Must be EAPASA registered
• Pr.Sci.Nat registered preferable.

Experience
Must have:

• At least 15 + years post-graduate consulting experience including sustainable construction, green building, environmental engineering and waste management.
• A core understanding and experience with NEMA, NEM:WA, MPRDA and NWA processes and associated legislation.
• A strong experience in undertaking Basic Assessments and EIAs in South Africa and having managed a number of applications independently from start to end.
• Specialist technical ability and experience in one, or several, of the fields of waste management, renewable energy, ecosystem goods and services and climate change adaptation and resilience.
