    Head: Oliver Tambo Center of Human Rights in the Faculty of law for a Five (5) year fixed term contract.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Professor/Associate Professor OR meets the requirements for appointment at the level of Professor or Associate Professor.
    • Doctoral Degree in Law with a specialization in Human Rights Law or International Law.
    • A track record of accredited research publications that are nationally and internationally recognized commensurate with the academic rank of Professor/Associate Professor.
    • At least 10 years’ teaching experience in higher education for full Professor/ 7 years’ experience in higher education for Associate Professor.
    • Postgraduate supervision experience including successful master’s and doctoral supervision.
    • A proven track of raising of research funding.
    • Strong administrative and people management skills.

    ADDED ADVANTAGE:

    • Possession of professional experience gained from working in a human rights institution or related environment.
    • NRF rating.
    • Membership of related professional/scientific body.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • A successful candidate will be required to provide strategic leadership to the Centre.
    • Teaching, learning and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
    • Preparation and developing new programmes for approval and accreditation by the relevant structures.
    • Active involvement in collaborative research projects locally and internationally.
    • Supervise postgraduate students at master’s and doctoral levels.
    • Drive community engagement in the Centre.
    • Ensure good relations with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Represent the Centre at relevant University committees.
