Job Description

Responsibilities

• You must be comfortable translating wireframes into designs on a daily basis as that will be the core of your work.
• Taking the wireframes into visual design while working with existing design system constraints and finding creative solutions to interaction problems that balance the needs of business with the current technology stack while not compromising on the user experience.
• Ability to create prototypes.
• Facilitate discussions around visual designs with stakeholders in an iterative manner and therefore improve them to facilitate discussions and improvements.
• Strong ability to advocate for the end-user in discussions with business and technical teams.
• Establishing, maintaining, designing and updating the design guidelines, components, best practices and standards for the internal system.
• Ability to be well-versed in the industry best practices and standards.

Experience

• At least 3+ years’ experience working in UI or design-related field - specifically web applications and/or mobile devices.
• A strong focus on visual design and interaction design through prototyping in an agile software development environment.
• Ability to define visual elements, product elements and overall design.

Knowledge of:

• Figma (required)
• An understanding of simplified user-centered design methodologies (required)
• Interface design and technology trends and standards

Advantageous

• Understanding of Bootstrap and Google material design
• Understanding of Agile Practices
• An up-to-date knowledge of best practices and latest trends in mobile and web
• Exposure to design systems

Qualifications

• Grade 12 National Certificate
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Design or equivalent
• Portfolio showcasing your UI thinking and capabilities.
