IT Security Specialist (Network Security Engineer) at Rand Merchant Bank

Role Purpose                  

The purpose of the role is to assist business areas within RMB with internal and external connection mapping, new connectivity requirements with secure network architecture. To assist with connectivity challenges in order to allow users and systems to communicate securely and in line with Group policy and best practice.

Responsibilities              

• Analyse business requirements and log the required network security changes for business areas.
• ollowing up on incidents, requests and changes in order to provide feedback to the RMB business areas
• Complete Monthly CARE report for review by Security Operations Manager
• Perform all calls allocated as per SLA in the call management system
• All SOP’s to be reviewed on quarterly basis and updated where required
• Network, end user and server computing security
• Plan and configure changes and operations specific to IT technologies in order to prevent security breaches
• Monitor incoming and outgoing communication in such a way to enable business but to avoid compromising business security.
• Put firewalls, anti-virus and intrusion prevention systems in place

Qualifications and Experience                  

• CCNA or equivalent certification
• Relevant Technology Degree

Minimum 4 years’ experience in:

• Cisco firewall
• Network proxy servers
• Network access control
• Network routing and switching
• Network analysers
• General Information security background and knowledge
