Junior Data Engineer at Tsebo Solution

• Are you an analytical problem-solver with a passion for building reliable data solutions? We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join our Group Analytics & Data Science team and help shape high-quality, scalable data pipelines that enable meaningful business insights

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Design, build and maintain data pipelines that support analytics and reporting
• Integrate, clean and transform data from multiple sources into structured data models
• Support data warehousing and dimensional modelling initiatives
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting outputs
• Ensure data quality, consistency and proper documentation
• Collaborate with data scientists, IT teams and business stakeholders

Skills and Competencies    

• Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python for data querying, transformation, and validation
• Experience with data engineering and ETL processes, including SSIS or similar tools 
• Understanding of data warehousing principles and dimensional modelling (Kimball methodology advantageous) 
• Exposure to Azure Synapse Analytics or AWS data environments 
• Ability to build and support Power BI dashboards; DAX knowledge advantageous
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to data accuracy and detail 
• Ability to document data sources, transformations, and mappings clearly and accurately 
• Good communication and collaboration skills, able to work with technical teams and business stakeholders 
• Well-organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a fast-paced analytics environment

Qualifications    

• Diploma in Informatics, Statistics, Data Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (minimum requirement)
• Bachelor’s Degree (BSc or BCom) in a relevant discipline will be advantageous 
• 1–2 years’ relevant experience in a data engineering, data analytics, or BI environment 
• Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (Azure Synapse Analytics or AWS preferred) 
• Relevant certifications in data, cloud, or analytics technologies will be an added advantage
