    Job description
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Teaching and Learning
    Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Geography and Environmental studies.
     
    Research

    •  Research in the field of Geography and Environmental Education with appropriate publications.

    Community Engagement
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • A Professional Teacher’s qualification in Education (NQF Level 6 – 8).
    • An honours degree in Geography or Environmental Studies Education (NQF Level 8)
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching Geography and Environmental Education in school or a higher education institution.

    ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES:

    • A bachelor’s degree in Physical Geography Education.

    KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Knowledge of teaching in different modes of delivery.
    • Computer proficient – command of Word, Power point and Excel.
    • Experience of Efundi will be beneficial.
    • Language proficiency to function in a multilingual environment.
    • Teaching experience at primary/secondary/tertiary level.

    KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Good interpersonal relations.
    • The ability to work with large groups of people.
    • Ability to adhere to timelines and deadlines.
    • Good communication skills (verbal, written and use of technology.
    • Language skills in order to function in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
    • Ability to work independent, problem solving, systematically and innovative.
    • Ability to function effectively under pressure.
