To operate stage automation system (stage machinery and flying system) during set-ups, rehearsals, lighting sessions, performances & strikes while working under tight safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
Ensure that stage machinery is functioning correctly.
Ensure the safe rigging and flying of flown scenery/equipment/house curtains.
Report all faulty mechanisms/machinery/control equipment.
Obtain and act on hanging plot from Production Manager.
Provide the Production and Stage Managers with a hanging plot cue sheet.
Ensure that stage and backstage areas are safe and ready for rehearsals and performances.
Assist with get-ins, set-ups, scene changes, change-overs, strikes and get-outs.
Operate stage machinery during set-ups, rehearsals, lighting sessions, performances and strikes.
Ensure the smooth running of productions in area of specialized skill.
Maintain and ensure the cleanliness of all machinery/equipment/areas of specialized skill.
Ensure compliance of fire and safety regulations.
Execute any additional / alternative tasks / sound / lighting etc. as requested by superiors/General Manager Stage Services.
Provide training and guidance to trainees and contract staff as required
Keep personal accurate and up to date time keeping records
Ensure the safe handling of house curtains / black surround
Ensure that black surround and other house curtains are properly handled and stored.
Qualifications
Matric certificate
Must have an excellent track record of relevant theatre or stage experience
The candidate must possess sound knowledge of the operation and usage of stage automation system used in Performing Arts Theatres
Minimum of 3-5 years experience
Further Requirements
The candidate must be prepared to work overtime as and when required
Must be pro-active and have a problem-solving ability
