Junior Structural Draughtsperson (Fixed-term) at SMEC

The Role

• This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and energized Junior Structural Draughtsperson to join a leading infrastructure consultancy and contribute to the growth and development of a business with a reputation for technical excellence and strong client relationships. This position will be fixed term for 6 months.

Reports To

• Section Manager or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.

Primary Position Purpose

• To provide drafting services and prepare documentation for projects as well as provide other appropriate technical support.

Key Responsibilities
With 2 to 3 years of structural draughting experience, the key responsibilities are:

• CAD draughting and detailing
• Ensuring projects are documented within guidelines set by supervisor
• Producing efficient, high quality drawings and documentation
• Ensuring tasks are completed to program
• Using office systems relevant to tasks
• Ensuring appropriate technical and drawing standards and quality procedures are maintained on all projects
• Taking ownership and responsibility for own work
• Bill of quantities
• Preparing and producing Issue Slips using Doc Reg
• Communicating with suppliers and other offices
• Assisting with quantity measurements
• Assisting Senior Draughtsmen and Engineers with research and innovation
• Consulting directly with Engineers
• Compiling bending schedules

Recommended Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

• National Diploma (Civil Engineering or equivalent) or relevant draughting qualification
• 2 - 3 years drafting experience (as a Structural Draughtsperson). Must have experience in structural design and detailing
• Experience in the use of AutoCAD and other relevant drafting software
• Understand the use and importance of standards in the application of software tools
