    Junior Yacht Designer

    An exciting opportunity exists for a young and ambitious Yacht Designer for a Lead Boat Manufacturer based in the Western Cape.

    • Are you passionate about boats and Yachts?
    • Is your ambition to become a boat designer?
    • Do you have great experience using design packages like Solid Works? , AutoCAD and NanoCAD?
    • Do you have experience with the Design and Manufacture of Boat Exteriors?

     

    What you will be doing?

    Design & Detailing of Boat Exterior Components for new products, as well as engineering changes done through the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process.

     

    What Skills we require?

    • Working knowledge of Solidworks (2016 upwards) and a basic knowledge of AutoCAD / Draftsight / NanoCAD (2010 upwards). A good knowledge of MS Office Programs.
    • Good problem solving and analytical skills
    • Ability to work in a team
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Good Organisational and communication skills
    • Ability to systematically troubleshoot and problem solve
    • Self-Motivated
    • Ability to work under pressure and keep to strict deadlines
    • A good knowledge of boat exterior components, including but not limited to sails, standing rigging, running rigging, guardrails, mooring and anchoring equipment, hatches, glazing, stainless steel components and GRP components.

     

    Education Requirements:

    • A minimum of 1-year work experience in a design engineer or manufacturing engineer role.
    • Minimum: Engineering Degree or Diploma (Preferably Mechanical)
    • Ideal: 3 years’ engineering experience in the boat building industry, plus engineering degree (or relevant boat/yacht design qualification).
