Laboratory Manager at Ascendis Health

JOB OBJECTIVE

• Practice pharmacy in compliance with all laws and regulations, as well as company policies
• Work with the pharmacy management to develop a strategic plan and establish goals for the compounding laboratories.
• Provide leadership to the compounding laboratory team and direct the daily operations of this department, including evaluating and training when necessary.
• Inventory management, quality control and profitability of the department
• Research and develop new products and processes.
• Ensure ethical business practices are maintained.
• Ensure business growth.

TASK DESCRIPTION

• Compound and dispense prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals according to professional standards.
• Reinforce GMP, safety and security guidelines and practices.
• Comply with all record-keeping requirements as determined by legislation and management.
• Maintain good public relations, provide premier customer service, and preserve working relationships with other healthcare professionals.
• Assist healthcare professionals on matters pertaining to compounding.
• Work in a team environment with professional and non-professional staff members; take initiative and be self-motivated; have technical ability, analytical ability, and decisive judgment.
• Responsible for procurement of raw materials, stock, equipment and packaging
• Devise and implement operational procedures for efficient workflow.
• Maximize turnover and profit, administer budgetary targets in accordance with company's goals and strategies.
• Ensure cost efficient and cost-effective operating processes at the pharmacy.
• Ensure all aspects of Good Pharmacy Practice are adhered to - ethical and compliance aspects.
• Manage HR issues, staff development and performance management.
• Develop and update SOP's.
• Manage stock takes.
• New product development (NPD) using Pharmaceutical principals
• Provide clinical and operational expertise.
• Monthly reporting on staff and pharmacy performance to MD
• Assist other departments on an ad-hoc basis.
• Provide all relevant support as required by the managing director.
• All other ad-hoc duties as required by a pharmacist.

SUPERVISION EXERCISE

• This position will have 7 direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• B. Pharm preferably with Masters in pharmaceutics
• Minimum 3 years post community service experience in Industry
• Experience within a compounding or manufacturing environment preferred.
• GMP knowledge in QA and QC
