Learnership Technician at Element Materials Technology

Overview

Element has the opportunity for a Yes 4 Youth Learner Laboratory Technician based in Somerset West.

Element Cape Town is part of Element Deeside UK which is the largest analytical chemistry laboratory within the Element Group and the market leading UK laboratory undertaking the testing of soils, waters, wastes, oils, NAPLs, ambient air, soil vapours and gases from all over the world. The laboratory undertakes high volume routine analysis as well as offering bespoke method development, technical support and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to enhance the support we can deliver. The laboratory has an international reputation for service excellence and supports clients that require a higher level of technical expertise, reliability in data quality and seamless project management from sample collection to timely delivery of data in the format of choice.

Responsibilities

• Working in the lab assisting in the preparation of soil/water samples
• Undertaking a variety of organics and inorganics extractions in preparation for analysis
• Maintaining accurate records, calibrating equipment and general housekeeping methods
• Reporting of results using Laboratory Information Management System

Skills / Qualifications

• A science background with a post matriculation qualification (degree or diploma)
• The right aptitude and/or previous relevant experience will also be taken into account
• Punctual and hard-working individual
• Full training will be provided – no experience necessary
• Highly motivated and organised individual
• Excellent attention to detail
• MUST be currently unemployed and registered with Yes4Youth
