    Lecturer Pharmacy Health Sciences

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • To facilitate the learning process and acquisition of knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical chemistry and/or pharmaceutics by undergraduate pharmacy students in order for them to function effectively within the field of Pharmacy. To conduct and lead research, facilitate the acquisition of research knowledge and skills amongst undergraduate and postgraduate students. To contribute to community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the University.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • To lecture pharmaceutical sciences (Pharmaceutical Chemistry and/or Pharmaceutics)modules within the Pharmacy programme
    • To assess student performance inmodule(s) taught and other assessments whenever needed in theDepartment
    • To conduct, publish and promote research in Pharmacy
    • To be involved in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes
    • To be involved in community engagement programs
    • To perform other administrative duties as designated by the Head of the Discipline/Department.

    CORE COMPETENCIES

    • An in-depth knowledge in the theory of pharmaceutical chemistry.
    • Experience in facilitating at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, learning and teaching and inthe development of curricula and learning material in pharmaceutical sciences (PharmaceuticalChemistry and/or Pharmaceutics).
    • Initiation and management of research projects in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and/or Pharmaceutics.
    • Application for and administration of research grants.
    • Potential to contribute to pharmacy profession/stakeholder liaison and networking.
    • Good computer skills.
    • Knowledge and implementation of, or an ability for, facilitation using blended learning methods.
    • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.


    REQUIREMENTS
    Education

    • Bachelor of Pharmacy and a relevant Master’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences (Pharmaceutical Chemistry and/or Pharmaceutics)

    Registration

    • Registration as a pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

    Experience

    • Two years’ experience lecturing undergraduate pharmacy students in pharmaceutical science disciplines (Pharmaceutical Chemistry and/or Pharmaceutics).

    Added advantages

    • Has the potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by virtue of publications and the successful initiation and supervision of research projects, including Master’s studies
    • Has potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by involvement in relevant engagement/consulting activities
