AVI is looking for a recently qualified Attorney with 2 - 4 years experience, to support the Legal Executive with commercial agreements for the AVI business. The role will be based at AVI’s Head Office in Illovo.
Candidates must demonstrate previous experience in drafting commercial contracts and demonstrate the ability to identify potential issues and pitfalls.
The successful candidate will be part of a diverse group of professionals at the Head Office of a JSE Listed company and the role will extend across a range of businesses.
The successful candidate will need to have initiative, strong administrative and computer skills, a legal qualification, and excellent interpersonal skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
This position will report directly to the Group Legal Executive.

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Drafting and reviewing of commercial agreements across a wide range of business areas whilst pro-actively assisting the businesses to assess the business/legal risks in all proposed contracts, identify and analyse issues that could arise, and develop legal solutions to overcome these issues
• Liaising with a wide range of relevant stakeholders
• Participating in negotiations with third parties on matters pertaining to commercial agreements
• Working closely with the internal AVI Group Legal Executive and, where necessary, with external attorneys

Experience Required    
Must have experience working as an attorney with commercial agreements within a legal or corporate legal environment.

Knowledge Required    

• Drafts documents using a commercial, business focused style
• Excellent legal, communication, and organizational skills
• Works co-operatively in a team, sharing information and knowledge
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Commercially astute and stays current on key legal and business news
• Excellent understanding and working knowledge of MS Office suite
