    Logistics Methods Engineer (Warehouse)

    Gibela Rail Consortium invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Logistics Methods Engineer (Warehouse) on a fixed term contract to be based in Dunnottar, Nigel.

    The role report to the Logistics Methods Manager.

    Purpose

    The successful candidate will define internal and external flows for the operations:

    • Define and implement contractual agreements / commitments on logistic and packaging specifications with the suppliers.
    • Anticipate, define and coordinate operational processes such as transportation optimization or logistics process and methods analysis.
    • Promote continuous improvement culture to minimize costs and material preservation.
    • PFEP analysis and racking configuration for space optimisation in the warehouse
    • Define Milk Run concepts to drive cost reductions and efficient stock turns.

    Responsibilities

    • In charge of defining warehouse processes and rollout
    • Optimize internal and external logistics flows and manage gaps with corrective action plan.
    • In charge of defining and contractualizing logistics and packaging specifications with suppliers.
    • Responsible for warehouse space optimisation and maintain efficient flow of material
    • Define and maintain a plan for every part “PFEP”.
    • Define warehouse binning strategy.
    • Define warehouse method times (Receiving, Kitting, Outbound).
    • Propose returnable packaging in order to optimize transportation costs with suppliers and ensure just in time deliveries according to production line requirements.

    Inbound and Outbound

    • Support the production line by working closely with the warehouse and industrial departments in order to implement supply routes.
    • Ensure material preservation from supplier shipment to production line delivery, through definition of packaging, trolley and handling methods.
    • Manage continuous improvement in order to meet lean manufacturing objectives.
    • Design a Kitting trolley that facilitates space optimisation and parts proximity.

    Requirements

    • National Diploma or B-Tech Degree in Industrial Engineering.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in Lean manufacturing industrial environment.
    • Advanced knowledge of Supply chain processes in warehouse and material flows.

    Technical Competencies

    • ERP System : SAP (Warehouse Management).
    • Ability to work on VISIO and CAD.
    • Advanced computer skills.
