PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To safely transport, excavate, load, prepare and discharge various materials to and from different plant locations by means of surface mobile equipment on a shift basis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, RISK, QUALITY AND COMMUNITY

• Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
• Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Ensure the OHSA and environmental standards are maintained
• Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
• Adhere to all related SOP’s, PTO’s and CTO’s as per Training Matrix per position, SHEQ and company standards
• Comply to the 5S requirements and manage your area of responsibility

 BUSINESS PROCESSES

• To operate the following Surface Mobile Equipment in accordance to operational and safety standards:
• Articulated Dump Truck
• Front End Loader with bucket
• Front End Loader with Ingot loading bucket
• Communicate progress of shift work verbally to Coordinator
• Submit activities sheet (log sheet) to Coordinator at end of shift and to other plant areas when requested
• Identify and communicate safety/ health/ environmental hazards and non-conformance
• Report damages and assist with investigations if formed part of incident
• Ensure own license compliance
• Identify and report problems on machines by means of pre- and post-start checklist
• To safely transport, break, excavate, load, prepare and discharge various materials (hot and cold) to and from different plant locations by means of surface mobile equipment, by means of standards on a shift basis
• Stockpile and slag dump maintenance
• All documentation completed correctly and timeously (checklists and activity tick list)
• Inspecting and driving a surface mobile equipment in accordance with the required standards & procedures
• Assist the Diesel Mechanic with basic tasks during a breakdown situation (No diesel mechanic specialized tasks may be performed)
• Performing overtime work when required
• Any other relevant task required

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• External: Grade 12 or N3
• Internal: Grade 12 or N3 or N3 that is equivalent to a Grade 12/ Matric (4x Technical subjects or 4x Business subjects and 2x Language subjects)
• 1 years’ relevant experience in a logistics environment
• Valid driver’s license (minimum B/ Code 8)

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Experience of the plant, raw and final materials
• Basic Production Skills Programme
• Valid Surface Mobile Equipment licenses (Front End Loader & Articulated Dump)
