    Machine Shop Planner (Port Elizabeth)

    Job Description

    NOV South Africa is seeking a highly experienced Machine Shop Planner within our Production division. In this role, you will be responsible for the successful execution of the projects you control, which can range from manufacturing of new or repair of existing equipment, which includes the disciplines of Machining, Welding & Fabrication, Coating, NDE and Fitting. Responsible to control projects within production and outside vendors, from the release of work orders until its completion, ensuring that all projects will be delivered on-time, within budget and to the quality standards by following all NOV specifications.

    DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITES:

    • Strive to ensure that all WO’s (Work Order) / projects are completed on time, within budget and meeting or exceed quality standards.
    • Analyse WIP / completed WO information (manufacturing or repair process / estimated vs actual labour hours) and communicate future recommendations.  
    • Create detailed Shop Routers (Shop Packets) within NOV’s ERP System, detailing the manufacturing / repair process as well as listing the estimated operation lead times, procedures / specifications / reports to be followed / completed, during the manufacturing / repair process, to ensure a quality product.
    • Update and revise Shop Packet, in the ERP System, based on WO requirements.
    • Create weld maps for PCG (Pressure Control Group) repair equipment or as required by special projects.
    • Complete MRB / Data Book requests, for special projects.
    • Enter / update BOM’s (Bill of Materials) in ERP system.
    • Consolidate and prepare / print WO documentation required for WO execution.
    • Schedule and lead meetings, communicate WO requirements, in order to release new WO’s to Production.
    • Coordinate work scopes and Quality Plans with all applicable parties. 
    • Monitor status of production and OSV work scopes. Identify and manage any issues that may impact our ability to deliver on time or on budget.
    • Provide input to scheduling team and inform team of applicable changes that would affect lead time. 

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Relevant higher education degree, diploma and / or Qualified Artisan in related trade (essential)
    • Significant working experience in Heavy Engineering job shop and / or manufacturing environment (essential)
    • Project Planning experience (desirable)

    SKILLS, TRAINING & SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE:

    • Interpret schematics, drawings and bill of materials (essential)
    • ERP system knowledge: desirable
    • Microsoft Office Suite 
    • Project management skills (Project planning)
