Maintenance Fitter at Bidvest Tank Terminals

Minimum Requirements

• Matric
• N3/N4
• Fitter Trade Test Certificate
• Minimum 3 years mechanical fitting experience
• Experience in a petrochemical/chemical environment advantageous

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct routine preventative inspections and record corrective findings on SAP
• Repair site assets as scheduled on a daily plan.
• Conduct mechanical fault finding on equipment such as pumps, valves, heat exchanges, compressors, boilers, chillers, etc
• Ensure that completed jobs are confirmed on SAP PM and all performed activities are captured on SAP PM accordingly
• Overhaul and test P.V valves, isolation valves, pumps, valves etc
• Plan, request and control spares required for work
• Run SAP IW28 to be proactive in terms of planning for execution of those jobs
• Ensure that all equipment is maintained at optimum levels to minimize downtime of equipment for product import and export
• Ensure quality and quantity of strategic spares is always available to ensure the minimum downtime of equipment and to minimize operational delays
• Address and eliminate re-occurring faults
• Hold daily maintenance toolbox talks and safety meetings with the Maintenance personnel
• Must be able to perform standby duties
• Ability to work around moving machinery, at heights and in confined spaces
• Supervise Learners
• Adhere to the BTT ISO 9001 Quality procedures, ISO 14001 Environmental procedures and ISO 18001 Safety procedures
• Any order duty that is in the interest of the company that is legal and lawful
