Maintenance Lead - Ekurhuleni at Unique Personnel

Purpose of position:

To be responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quality and quantity while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company

Key Accountabilities:

Safety, Health, Environment & Security:

• Direct, maintain and enforce the safety program for the Maintenance Department
• Review safety records to in order to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians
• Compliance with all safety rules and requirements
• Ensure adherence to all SHE policies, procedures and standards in order to safeguard company personnel and assets
• Ensure compliance to necessary statutory requirements for tools and equipment

Commercial Ownership/Creative Customer Solutions – run the business as if its your own:

• Initiate, implement and manage the plant maintenance program/plan based on best practices in the resin production industry.
• Oversee the planning/scheduling and preventative/predictive maintenance function
• Constantly review the operations/performance of plant equipment in order to minimise unplanned downtime.
• Timeously solve problems related to breakdowns and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Participate in objective planning and plant performance review
• Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, equipment and initiate reordering when necessary
• Manage the maintenance and repair of maintenance shop equipment
• Establish and maintain a computerised maintenance management system (DMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts and maintenance history of plant equipment
• Provide direction to plant maintenance personnel
• Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the maintenance department
• Timeously monitor the operation of plant equipment and systems
• Track, analyse and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilisation, maintenance costs, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
• Monitoring product quality.  Prepare reports, analyse data and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
•  Ensure that all Maintenance Technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures
• Ensure that Maintenance Technicians are adequately trained, equipped and motivated in order to accomplish the maintenance programme in a timeous, safe and cost effective manner
• Initiate and implement projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs
• Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions
• Implements programmes and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness

Working Together:

• Communicate regularly with all maintenance technicians to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues
• Coordinate activities with plant Operations Department in order to achieve or exceed set goals
• Maintain good communication with Operations Department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas
• Communicate with QA Department in order to ensure effective participation by the maintenance technicians in the implementation of QA policies and procedures

Inherent Requirements    

• Trade tested Artisan
• 10 years experience in manufacturing facility 
• Experience with driven electrical machinery, conveyors, mixers, packaging machinery and definitely PLC’s would be an advantage
