Maintenance Specialist Condition Monitoring - Steelpoort at Samancor Chrome

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The role is responsible for rendering a reliable support and advisory service through high quality condition monitoring by conducting analysis, testing and diagnoses of information, using the latest technology.

BALANCED SCORECARD PILLARS, ROLES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:

• Identify and assess level of issue-based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation, and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status

CUSTOMERS: 

• Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders
• Ensure customer and supplier satisfaction

BUSINESS PROCESSES:

• Condition monitoring / reliability and performance evaluation aspect of the rotating Machine Trains
• Performing specialized Ultrasound, laser alignment, in situ balancing, vibration, oil and thermographs analyses and interpret data using applicable software and initiate corrective action or         recommendations.
• Regularly analyze vibration data for assigned machines and generates reports
• Ensuring that generated reports are clearly specifying risks and recommended corrective actions.
• Reviewing Thermodynamic performance for the critical machines using online system and issuing reports.
• Keeping an action tracking register for the responsible person in Operations.
• Establishing and maintaining electronic database for the asset condition.
• Providing after hours / standby maintenance support.
• Researching, developing, and improving existing methods, technology, and equipment.
• Implementing change for improvement.
• Maintaining and improving safety, health and environmental standards and practices.
• Compiling reports on the status and condition of assets.
• Willing to work shifts and in an underground environment and adapt to learning program.
• Good working knowledge of the maintenance and operating processes.

WORKPLACE COMPETENCIES: 

Skills: 

• Microsoft Programs
• Samancor Chrome Systems (IMS, EBMS, Chromedoc, MES, Coupa, SAP)

Knowledge: 

• Good knowledge of Machinery condition Monitoring technologies and maintenance philosophies is desirable.
• Excellent working, Maintenance, and corrective procedure of rotating and associated equipment like ball mills, turbines, conveyors, etc.
• Good working knowledge of the maintenance and operating processes.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

• Degree or National Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/ Mechanical or Equivalent)
• Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience in Reliability Centred Maintenance, including Rotating and equipment maintenance, condition monitoring, in a refinery, production plants or mining.

Additional qualifications:

• Qualified artisan in Electrical or Mechanical Field
• CAT 2 qualification in Vibration analysis and Thermography is essential
• Laser alignment, NDT Ultrasound, and Oil Analysis will be an advantage
• EB driver’s license.
