    Manager: Transmission High Level Support

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • Ensure that the Vodacom transmission network maintains a high availability & performance in accordance with international best practices.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Fault Management – be able to localise and repair faults in a systematic matter ensuring minimum downtime.
    • Reduce P1 incidents by 10% per annum. Reduce P2 incidents by 5% per annum.
    • Performance management – ensure that the network performs within the defined KPI’s.
    • Spares Management – Ensure effective spares management process for the dimensioning, issuing, returns and repairs.
    • Perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly monitoring and reporting on spares dimensioning & consumption.
    • Compile and management of budgets – prioritise projects, manage investment and cash flows
    • Reports – provide detailed reports on availability, root cause analysis, spares management and performance management.
    • Special investigations – engage with supplier and internal stakeholders to swiftly resolve cross functional network issues 
    • People Management regarding technical delivery
    • People Management regarding attendance, conduct and compliance to organisational policies

    The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

    Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

    • A bachelor’s degree or 3-year diploma in Electrical Engineering  (Essential)
    • A minimum of 8 years working experience in Transmission (Essential)
    • A minimum of 5 years of mobile network experience (Essential)
    • A minimum of 3 years management experience (Essential)

    Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

    • Must have extensive knowledge and experience on DWDM, IP/MPLS, fibre, synchronisation and Microwave transmission systems
    • Must be familiar with the mobile network and service architecture 
    • Experience in managing cross functional network faults and service level agreements
    • Must have experience in compiling reports
    • Must have experience in managing Capex & Opex budgets
    • Must have business acumen and ICT awareness.  
    • Strategic thinking, innovative with strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work long hours, under pressure and demonstrate resilience 
    • Must be an excellent communicator (written and verbal) at all levels with good presentation and negotiation skills and the proven ability to manage relationships 
    • Must be customer obsessed 
    • Excellent planning and organising skills
    • Conflict handling and influencing skills
