    Marker Maker

    The Marker Maker forms part of the Marking Team and plays a fundamental role in the overall marking process, which is critical in ensuring maximising of cost accuracy and increasing efficiency by ensuring all patterns are correctly marked for optimal fabric utilization. This will allow the Manufacturing Team to issue production to the factory lines timeously.

    The main responsibilities of the role include: 

    • This role works very closely with the Garment Technology, Manufacturing, and Forecasting teams.
    • Create markers for garments based on specifications from the production orders.
    • Determine the most efficient marker layout, minimising fabric waste, and maximising product output.
    • Confirm jobs and rating on Syspro, as well as post fabrics manually.
    • Work closely with the cutting room and fabric warehouse in Lesotho and the raw materials warehouse in Northfield, on fabrics, ply heights and table lengths.
    • Review and revise markers based on feedback from the production team or changes in design specifications.
    • Maintain records of marker specifications and revisions to be used in the future.
    • Generate logical ways to improve efficiencies, ratings, and drive cost savings.
    • Identify workable solutions to problems as they arise, and address root causes to prevent reoccurrences.
    • Marker Checking which includes - Ratings, Fabric issued, constraints and overlapping checks.

    The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:

    • University degree or diploma.
    • 2 - 3 years’ experience in Marker Making / Optiplan or Planning.
    • Experience in clothing or textiles’ sector experience will be an added advantage.
    • The role demands excellent knowledge of Syspro, and understanding of the mainstream data in the Syspro and Opti-plan systems.
    • Strong knowledge of garment patterns, fabric types, and garment construction techniques.
    • Highly computer literate in MS Office with ADVANCED spreadsheet skills essential.
    • Experience working with Fast React, and Lectra.
    • Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle would be advantageous.
    • Valid passport (or must be obtained if appointed).
    • Fluent in spoken and written English with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Takes great pride in having all admin up to date, completely accurate and under control.
    • Works well under pressure.
    • A mainly office-bound position working within a very dynamic team of hardworking, likeminded people.
    • Must be a team player.
