An appropriate minimum qualification (MBChB/MBBCh) that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
Proof of current registration with HPCSA as an independent medical practitioner for the year 2025/2026. 1 year anaesthetic experience inclusive of time spent in anaesthesia during community service. BLS/ACLS/DA(SA).
Ability to work compulsory commuted overtime in Emergency Department. Demonstration of good working ethics, including reliability, discipline, the capacity to work under pressure.
Capability to function independently as well as effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Applicants must be solution-oriented and possess sound decision-making skills.
Duties :
Provide Anaesthesia services to patients, including pre-operative visit, with patient assessment and readiness for an anaesthesia. Theatre preparation and safe conduct of anaesthetic procedures and post-operative pain management plus interdisciplinary consultations.
Supervise and teach junior medical officers, medical interns and nursing staff, Will work under supervision of the specialists.
Participate in departmental academic and hospitals quality assurance programmes. Must be willing to work longer hours and commuted overtime is compulsory. Must be available to resume duties immediately.
