    Medical Officer Grade 1 (Orthopaedics)

    Requirements :

    • Qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as Medical Officer. Current registration with HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Must have completed community service.
    • Completion of additional training courses such as Orthopaedic-related courses or ATLS is advantageous. Ability and willingness to participate in compulsory commuted overtime.

    Duties :

    • Clinical management of Orthopaedic patients as a Medical Officer at Helen Joseph/Rahima Moosa Hospital Complex. Daily collaboration with registrars and consultants regarding patient care. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures appropriate to the role of a Medical Officer. Does post intake and follow-up ward rounds and supervising junior staff.
    • Managing patients attending Orthopaedic Outpatient Departments and Subspeciality Clinics. Consultations and patient management within speciality wards. Manage acute trauma patients in the emergency department and wards.
    • Assist in and perform operative procedures for trauma and elective orthopaedic cases in theatre. Participate in after-hour calls and ward rounds as required. Act as a role model and mentor for junior doctors and associated clinical staff, demonstrating exemplary professional conduct. Participate in the multidisciplinary team.
