Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
Current registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Work experience in Internal Medicine.
Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
Grade 2: A minimum of 5 (five) year’s appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
Grade 3: A minimum of 10 (ten) year’s appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
Diploma in Internal Medicine will be an added advantage.
Duties :
The incumbent will be responsible for the clinical assessment, history taking, and physical examination of general medical patients. Execution of evidence based and compassionate patient care plans. Assessment and management of medical emergencies.
Counselling and education of patients and families. Proper clinical record-keeping including all laboratory results. Preparation of referral letters and discharge summaries for all patients.
Participation in ward /departmental administrative duties. Teaching of students and junior officials. Commitment to highest level of care, ethics, professionalism and punctuality. Work within the multi-disciplinary team. Report directly to the Clinical Manager.
Available to take part in commuted overtime covering the wards and the A&E department on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Attendance of relevant departmental meetings like morbidity and mortality, near miss and completing medico-legal documents timeously.
Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos and conflict management. Implement and monitor adherence to Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance Framework.
