Grade 12. BSc Hons in Medical Physics or equivalent.
Registration with HPCSA as Medical Physicist in the category of independent practice.
Registration with the HPCSA for 2025/2026 as a Medical Physicist.
Experience:
Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Physicist. Understand the physics of Radiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine equipment, computers and software; and have a thorough knowledge of Radiotherapy physics. Knowledge of the statutory regulations regarding the medical use of ionizing radiation.
Good communication, interpersonal relationship, research, development and teaching skills. Capable of using initiative for problem solving, recognizing the need for action, consider possible risks and taking responsibility for results.
Be a highly motivated and methodical individual who pays attention to detail with exceptional standards for accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines.
Duties :
Active participation in the routine execution of Medical Physics service delivery activities in Radiotherapy, with support to Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology as required.
Ensuring compliance with national and international standards and regulations. Assist with commissioning and optimization of new equipment and techniques. Effective in the development and implementation of policies, protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
Teaching and training at both university and Hospital level. External coordination with other institutions in the province or national on Medical Physics activities. Attending and presenting at meetings, workshops and CPD lectures both local and international platforms.
Teaching and training remuneration (University and Hospital) is included.
