Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Physicist. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Physicist. No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Physicist.
Knowledge: of the statutory regulations regarding the medical use of ionizing radiation.
Skills: pertaining to the scope of the profession of Medical Physicists.
Understand the physics of Radiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine equipment, computers and software. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Be a highly motivated and methodical individual who pays attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
The following will be added advantage: BSc Hons in Medical Physics.
Duties :
Provide Medical Physics support, as directed by the senior manager, for Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic radiology units, including commissioning, calibration, and quality assurance.
Participate in the implementation of new treatment techniques and provide Radiation Protection Services.
The candidate will be involved in clinical activities as well as the training and teaching of Medical Physics interns.
