Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner, HPCSA registration as an independent medical practitioner and must be post Community Service.
Current registration with HPCSA (2026/2027). Must have completed Primaries, Intermediates in surgery, ATLS and BSS in relevant department. Must be a South African citizen or permanent residents. Training opportunities are inter alia available in the following disciplines: Paediatric Surgery.
Duties :
The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patients, participating in all activities of the discipline in relation to administrative duties, teaching, research, participating in departmental audit activities, preparing, and writing of reports, communication services and community liaison. Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, and community service doctors).
Willing to do commuted overtime. Attendance of relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meeting and completing MEDICO Legal Documents timeously. Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care.
Reduce medical litigation by excising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (norms and standards). Participate in multidisciplinary teams in the management of patients.
Performance of practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Participation in departments meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds.
Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department. Rendering of afterhours (night, weekend, and public holidays) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients.
Registrars will be rotated through related departments at various hospitals, comprising hospitals served in their specific outreach programmes. Registrars will be appointed jointly between the Gauteng Provincial Government and the following tertiary institution: University of the Witwatersrand (WITS).
