Medium Production Technician at Enza Zaden

What are you going to do?

The position is based in the R&D office in Stellenbosch. Medium production is at the heart of all tissue culture activities at this station. Within this position you play a crucial role in ensuring that the required medium is readily available. 

As Medium Production Technician you are part of the tissue culture team and work on medium production. Your main task is the preparation and dispensing of tissue culture medium used for the various projects at the station. Your responsibilities also include the preparation of stock solutions, cleaning and operating of relevant lab equipment (including autoclaves), preparation of tissue culture vessels (including medium and heavy lifting), and assistance with stock take of chemicals and medium stock levels. Next to that, other tasks could be assigned to you during the down times of medium production. Together with your colleagues you are responsible for a healthy and safe work environment.

• have 3 years relevant work experience in similar position (use of aseptic techniques / previous experience with steam autoclaves / familiar with laboratory equipment (weighing scales, pH meters, pipettes, etc.)
• have an affinity for a scientific environment;
• like structured methods and protocols and to follow processes;
• are a team player and like to contribute to the achievement of the team results;
• have good communication skills in English language.
