Metallurgy Shift Supervisor - Rustenburg at Samancor Chrome

Job Responsibilities:

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:

• Ensure SHEQ compliance within the Team through effective use of the Toolbox.
• Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status. 

PEOPLE:

Supervise the Team:

• Ensure an enabling climate/culture.
• Maintain labour stability by minimising labour turnover.
• Labour complement in line with budget
• Manage performance against set targets and competencies.
•  Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan.
• Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
• Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
• Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels.

Financial Management:

• Control and monitor costs through optimum consumables use and control.

1st Line Supervision:

• Supervise the safe and environmentally friendly operation of the metallurgical processes.
• Supervise subordinates, includes training and development of the Metallurgical Team
• Achieve Shift Target
• Achieve Metallurgy and Process Quality

Production:

• Achieve Production Budget
• Compile daily production report.
• Manage SAP and MES notifications for process.
• Drive IMS and MES systems.
• Operational Excellence
• Manage integration of improvement projects and change management initiatives.
• Follow instructions from direct senior.
• Manage integration of improvement projects and change management initiatives.
• Follow instructions from direct senior.

Maintenance:

• Prepare plant for maintenance processes.
• Create notifications for maintenance work.

Reporting:

• Complete the shift report.
• Update the MES and KPI’s
• Initiate/suggest Improvement Projects

Improvement Projects:

• Supervise the integration of improvement projects and change management initiatives Record contractor non-conformance.
• Sign invoice, timesheet, or pro-forma (Complete SAS); (Complete SES)

SHAREHOLDER VALUE:

• Monitor and control section costs.
• Ensure cost effective operation.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Grade 12/N3
• Relevant BTech or BEng Degree
• 5 years’ relevant experience in production, preferably At least 2 years Supervisory experience
