    MI and BI Specialist

    The role purpose

    To investigate, design, implement and maintain Management Information (MI) and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions in order to provide timely and accurate reporting and solutioning development to business in order to enable informed decision making. This is to be achieved by establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the relevant stakeholders and applying intimate knowledge of data systems in the context of the core business

    Accountabilities

    Accountability: Business Intelligence (BI)

    • Responsible for the analysis of market trends, quantitative analysis, financial modelling and integration of financial, credit and statistical analytics across products and segments.
    • Undertakes specialist feasibility analysis, evaluations or business projects and advises on the optimisation of resources and profitability of projects.
    • May research new investment opportunities (e.g. acquisition of external mortgage books) and make recommendations in terms of solutions development to Exco.
    • May be involved in business presentations and interact with other departments with regard to credit and funding strategies, e.g. CVM and Treasury.
    • Conducts special studies and makes recommendations to management regarding opportunities, progress and improvement strategies. May research and prepare reports on related subjects

    Accountability: Management Information (MI) and Reporting

    • Engage with internal business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure objectives, priorities and key requirements are agreed and understood.
    • Interpret data and identify issues, risks and opportunities and relate results and insights to Business users.
    • Conceptualize, design and build Management Information (MI) / Business Intelligence
    • (BI) models in support of business requirements.
    • Oversee integrity of reports, both when developing new reports as well as when executing existing scripts to ensure data is accurately presented.

    Accountability: Governance and Control

    • Create project plans where necessary in order to better manage required outcomes and coordinate with other team members to timely delivery of work product.
    • Ensure compliance to policies, legislation and regulations and that staff compliance training and attestations are in place
    • The incumbent in this position may be a specialist in financial and credit modelling, mathematics and statistical analysis with 6 to 8 years related experience.
    • May manage junior quants analysts.

    Education and Experience Required

    • Minimum Requirements - Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business or similar with a focus on analytics, business information management or equivalent
    • NQF level 6 qualification
    • Preferred Requirements - M sc. Statistics / M Com. Informatics / B.Com Honours
    • Three (3) to Five (5) years relevant experience in Business Intelligence / Management Information.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and the Internet

    Knowledge & Skills:

    • The incumbent in this position may be a specialist in financial and credit modelling, mathematics and statistical analysis with 6 to 8 years related experience. May manage junior quants analysts. Experience in managing a diverse team of specialists.

    • Able to mentor and transfer knowledge, skills and abilities
    • Expert Data analysis skills
    • Advanced Computer Literacy using all tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Power BI ..etc.)
    • verbal and written communication skills
    • Basic knowledge of the Regulatory and Industry standards in Financial Services
    • Competent report writing skills
    • Lateral and Strategic thinker with an appreciation for the “holistic” approach to managing information
