Millwright Apprenticeship at RCL Foods

Job Description    

• RCL Foods is seeking x5 Millwright Apprentice on a 3 Years Fixed Term Contract to join our Spreads Division at Siqalo Foods. The role will be based in Boksburg and report to the Engineering Site Services Lead.
• The main puropse of this role is to develop the technical competence and practical skills required to become a qualified Millwright. The role provides structured workplace learning, hands-on training, and theoretical knowledge to enable the apprentice to perform mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations safely and effectively. Under the guidance of experienced Millwrights and mentors, the apprentice will gain exposure to mechanical systems, tools, and processes while contributing to the smooth running of operations. 

Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12 with Maths and Science
• N3-N6 (with trade subjects)
• EE Preference (Females are encouraged to apply)
• Must be between 18-35 years of age

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Undertakes all non-specialized maintenance within specific unit of responsibility within definition
• Coaches and develops the engineering skills of other maintenance and operational staff
• Makes recommendations for continuous improvement
• Involved in WCM activities. Works within defined Engineering and SHE Policies and Standards
• Engineering: Diagnoses and interprets problems (fault finding) to optimize production output and with own team carries out the plant repairs
• Ensures that service levels are maintained at the required standards by carrying out all breakdown, preventative and predictive maintenance effectively
• Drive breakdown reductions off analyzing breakdowns, complying with the PPM requirement and implementing Continuous improvements
• Participates in strategic engineering plans to deliver maintenance and breakdown reduction benefits (RCM)
• Identifies the major engineering losses in his area and investigates using Kaizen problem-solving methodology. (Fishbone, 5 Why etc.)
• Ensures that Company safety rules and regulations are adhered and maintains Unilever safety and 5S standards
• Draws up, Coaches and develops engineering skills to other maintenance and operational staff using OPL and SOP’s
