    Miner

    Job Description

    As our Miner, you will be responsible for the following:

    • Identifying hazards and assess risks which employees working under his charge may be exposed to
    • Conducting safe declaration and inspection of working areas
    • Exercising control over all explosives to be used for blasting at those working places for which the competent person is responsible prepare primers
    • Examining any shot hole to be deepened to ensure it is safe to deepen; prepare primers
    • Examining for and deal with misfires and sockets, in accordance with the blasting procedure
    • Marking or indicating shot holes for drilling or to authorize the drilling of shot holes marked or indicated by another person authorized to do so
    • Exercising control over any manufacturing at the working places for which such competent person is responsible for, of pourable or pumpable explosives to be used
    • Connecting blasting rounds or circuits
    • Charging shot holes with explosives or place explosive charges
    • Ensuring safe evacuation of people and equipment to ensure that they are not exposed to blasting related incidents
    • Declaring working areas safe after blasting has taken place

    This role is in the Mining department on a band 7 level and reporting to the Supervisor Blasting.

    Qualifications

    You will be required to have the following:

    • Grade 12/N3
    • DMR Blasting Certificate for Open Cast Mines or MQA Rock Breaking issued prior 1 June 2017
    • 3 years Blasting experience
    • Knowledge of the Explosives act & MHSA REG. Chapter 4.
    • Code 08 Drivers License
    • Computer Literacy
    • FLM/BMP will serve as a recommendation
    • A2 Safety Training will be an advantage
