    National Sales Manager

    SMC Corporation South Africa is recruiting a dynamic, self-motivated, and inspirational National Sales Manager to manage our Outside sales team. The successful candidate should satisfy the following:

    The Role:

    • To understand, embrace, maintain and rejuvenate existing strategic plans & objectives focused on continuous market share growth for the Outside Sales Regional teams.
    • To provide leadership & responsible performance oversight of SMC’s sales teams
    • Be responsible for HR Development, recruitment, staff training, coaching and talent development initiatives including Sales role play and best practises
    • Maintaining good employee relations within the Outside sales teams and mutually with HQ support & admin departments
    • Fostering and maintaining a level-headed, fair approach to employee performance management including KPI standardization, CRM and strategic buy-in
    • Full National and African, Customer and Sales Partner oversight, including Price, Project,
    • Technical & Relationship Management
    • As 2IC within South Africa, contribute effectively to all SMC strategic decision-making processes

    Qualifications and Experience:

    Essential:

    • Minimum of a Higher Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
    • Automation Industry experience including Technical Product and Solutions knowledge
    • Management experience of a large diverse team (Min 5 years)
    • Sales Process theoretical knowledge and practical skills experience

    A proven track record is desirable including:

    • Leading and inspiring a diverse technically qualified Sales team
    • Successfully managing strategic customer relationships
    • Understand marketing strategies & how to apply them within target industries to increase market share

    Personal:

    • Residence in Gauteng is not negotiable. This to ensure productive cost efficiency & regular HQ & management interaction - The successful candidate will work primarily from SMC HQ in Midrand.
    • Regular travel up to week a month is required, mostly within South Africa. Half of our outside
    • Sales Team works remotely, so flexible time commitment, passport and driving licence are essential to develop and foster interaction with those teams
    • Your interpersonal style should be confidently presentable and knowledgeable but humble enough to inspire acceptance by employees, customers, and SMC Global teams.

    Skills Required:

    • Self-motivated and driven
    • Clean & highly responsive to administrative tasks incl. Outlook, CRM, Excel, & other tools
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to build long term relationships with diverse teams and customers.
    • Excellent negotiation and networking skills
    • Solution focused, analytical and reasoning skills including suitable data management skills
