    New Business Manager

    Purpose:

    • The new business manager (NBM) is responsible for managing the team that deals with the collation and completion of Bids and Tenders, Pitches, Credentials Statements, Expressions of Interest, Requests for Proposals, Requests for Quotations, Panel Registrations, Database Registration and Briefing Notes (collectively, the submissions) to win more work from existing clients and bring in new clients in line with the Firm’s strategy. The NBM is responsible for managing the new business team (NBT).

    Experience and Qualifications

    • At least 3 years specific experience in management, business development, client relationship management or a related field within a corporate, legal or professional services environment essential
    • Completed Degree/Diploma in a relevant field required

    Key Accountabilities              

    New Business Team (NBT) Coordinationa

    •  Initiating, consulting on, drafting and setting necessary processes and procedures in place to ensure successful delivery of NBT’s and new business assistants (NBA’s) individual annual objectives
    • Conducting NBT ‘catch-up’ team meetings
    • Offering support, training and guidance to NBAs
    •  Work allocation and creating and maintaining NBT capacity schedule
    • Maintaining NBT leave approvals and end-of-year leave schedule
    • Contributing to NBAs’ performance appraisal feedback and provide increase feedback team increase discussions
    • Prepare monthly reports on new submissions and status changes for Management Board report

    Project Management and Production of Submission Templates

    • Consult with partners/ fee-earners to ascertain needs relevant to specific practice areas and/ or sector groups for credentials statements, pitches and/ or brag sheets
    • Draft, maintain and update practice and/ or sector specific templates for credentials statements, pitches and/ or brag sheets and new intake professional profile template
    •  Once sign off is obtained from PGH and/ or SGH, share template with NBT and make available on BD Portal for future use
    • Develop and maintain new intake professional profile template

    Communication

    • Regular interaction with Communications Manager and Client Development team to brief them on recent developments and/ or wins for internal, and where necessary, external announcement

    Bid Submission Process

    • Identify and qualifying new bid opportunities, allocating these amongst the NBT,
    •  Drafting and reviewing submissions
    • Aiding partners and/ or fee-earners and/ or NBT in defining and executing the proposal strategy
    •  Prepare briefing notes to be provided to partners in preparation for client meetings

    New Business Infrastructure and Best Practice

    • Support the development and implementation of the BD Portal and ensure all documents and standard content materials are loaded and maintained
    • Responsible for the drafting and maintenance of NB process documents
    •  Develop and maintain ongoing submission database, submission management tools and submission library

    Relationship Building

    • Develop and maintain relationships with all levels of staff as a trusted resource.
    • Maintain strong working relationships and have open and transparent communication between all members of the NBT and broader BD team

    Management and Leadership

    • Supervises own teams performance to ensure delivery of the proposal strategy
    • Gives regular, comprehensive and constructive feedback to team and conducts their performance appraisals
    • Proactively seeks feedback from team members and deals constructively with any criticism
    •  Adjusts management style to get the best from the individuals within the team
    • Delegates work to team members taking into account their capacity, level of skill and exposure to different types of work and complexity; provides clear instructions and direction, with reasonable deadlines
