Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• A relevant Master’s degree in Mathematics Education awarded with a pass mark of 70% or greater.
• A teaching qualification.
• Mathematics as a major subject or an equivalent and relevant qualification at undergraduate level.
• Specialized knowledge of methodologies of teaching Mathematics.
• Fluent in Afrikaans.

Recommendations:

• At least one (1) year experience in teaching Mathematics in the SP & FET Phase at school or tertiary level.
• A relevant doctoral degree.
• Evidence of research outputs and supervision.
• School teaching experience preferably in the SP & FET Phase.
• The candidate must be registered or prepared to register for a Doctoral degree.

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

• Participation in all components of the nGap development programme during the first six (6) years of employment.
• Teaching Mathematics in the SP & FET department.
• Curriculum development and other learning materials.
• Supervising students on teaching practice.
• Competence in the pedagogy of technology integration in learning, teaching, and assessment.
• Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision).
• Academic administration, development, and administration.
• Assessment and quality assurance.
• Networking with schools and other networks.
• Community engagement.
• Coaching and mentoring of students and staff.
• Learner focus and learner support in multilingual classrooms.
• Meticulous planning and organizing skills.
• Perform other functions as may be assigned by the head of department.
