    OE Product Engineer Technician

    Main job purpose

    • Responsible for product part evaluation, feasibility documents, drawings of new and changed products and their related activities for the OE market to provide technical assistance to the Site and customers in line with customer requirements and specifications.

    Main Objective

    • To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and mentored through the talent management and IDP processes to drive capability in business.
    • Responsible for the timeous and accurate assessment and preparation of information for new part development to assist in feasibility studies of the product in order to ensure that the product can be manufactured according to required specifications in line with SX costing and profit targets.
    • Responsible for interpretation and translation of new parts by documenting design specifications in line with Company standards and customer requirements in order for plant manufacturing to determine their readiness for production.  
    • Responsible for establishing tooling aids in line with checked fixtures and tool requirements and to release developing sizes to manufacturing plants to ensure fixtures are suitable, accurate and approved prior to use in the manufacture of the new parts.
    • To effectively communicate and liaise with stakeholders to ensure customer requirements/specifications are met within agreed time frames.
    • To effectively support sites with relevant technical assistance to ensure customer satisfaction. 

    Critical job requirements

    Qualification(s)               

    • Grade 12             
    • Technical Engineering Qualification (National Diploma or higher)


    Knowledge        

    • Sound understanding of engineering principles.               
    • Understanding of quality systems and it's implementation
    • Knowledge of specification quality and performance requirements
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001; 2003 preferably ISO TS 16949 and/or VDA 6


    Skills    

    • Strong interpersonal skills           
    • Strong technical reasoning skills
    • Analytical skills 
    • Good communication skills
    • CAD skills (Catia)              


    Experience                   

    • 3 years’ experience in an automotive environment.       
    • 3 years autocad experience       
    • 1 years leadership experience
    • 3 years leadership experience  
    • 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
