    Pharmacy Supervisor

    Requirements :

    • B. Pharmacy or Diploma in Pharmacy recognized by the South African Pharmacy Council. Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacist.
    • A minimum of 4 years of appropriate experience after registration as a Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council. Excellent communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.
    • Team builder and computer literate. Sound knowledge of legislation applicable to pharmacy practice. Human Resource Management and staff relation legislation. Appropriate clinical and theoretical knowledge. Previous experience in a management/supervisory position can be added advantage.

    Duties :

    • Manage and supervise the workflow in an area within the Pharmacy department. Supervising Pharmacists, Pharmacist Interns, Pharmacist Assistants and any other personnel in the unit. Management and training of staff including the completion of performance appraisals. Monitor and facilitate effective Medicine Supply Management in the Pharmacy department.
    • Provide pharmaceutical care, including prescription evaluation, dispensing of medication and provision of information to ensure patient compliance and therapeutic success. Register as a tutor to train pharmacist interns and /or Pharmacist’s Assistants. Assist manager in budget planning, demand planning and duty allocation.
    • Prepare and submit relevant reports to various departments. Supply relevant information to medical, nursing staff and patients. Assist the manager in the co-ordination of activities of the Hospital Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (PTC), or in any other committees that is of benefit in improving and managing pharmaceutical services.
    • Perform ward checks, clinical ward rounds, overtime and standby duty. Participate in the Implementation of the National and Provincial programmes to ensure compliance with the standards.
    • Perform all other duties delegated by the manager within the scope of practice. Report to Pharmacy Manager. Ensuring Pharmacy is always compliant with the Pharmacy Council Standards. Monitor and evaluate quality of service. Participate in-service training.
    • Perform any legitimate task requested that is necessary for the provision of a quality Pharmaceutical service. Perform after hours and on-call duties as required by the department.
