Plants Technician at Servest SA

Job Context    

• Servest Office Services ,a division of the Servest Group has a vacancy for an candidate to work as a site based plants technician.A suitable candidate must have experience in horticulture,and caring and maintenance of plants in a variety of settings. This role is suitable for a candidate that will be able to report to a client site in Pinelands daily.

Minimum Requirements    

• Matric and relevant tertiary qualification
• Minimum at least two years of experience in a related role. 
• Have experience in a related position, such as a laborer, or in a related industry, such as agriculture
• Must have good communication skills 

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Monitoring environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and light levels to ensure that they are optimal for plant growth
• Plant propagation by taking cuttings and grafting plants to produce new plants
• Recording data and monitoring crop health to identify any issues or concerns that may need to be addressed by a supervisor
• Monitoring the growth of plants and performing regular maintenance tasks such as watering and fertilizing plants and checking for signs of disease
• Evaluating greenhouse conditions to ensure that they are safe for employees and plants
• Observing plant growth patterns over time to identify any changes in conditions that may affect plant health
• Collecting samples for chemical analysis and performing other tests on soil samples to determine the pH level and nutrient content
• Taking care of plants in greenhouses or nurseries by planting them and caring for them until they are ready for sale or transplantation
