Porter/Driver at Mediclinic

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

• To transport and escort patients, equipment, files and related items between different departments of a hospital to support hospital operations in delivering the highest standards of care.
• This position also provides transportation and delivery services to the Hospital.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Transport and escort patients safely to pre-determined location
• Provide Hospital Transportation Service
• Provide Collections and Deliveries Services
• Assist with evacuations during emergency situations

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

• Grade 10

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

• Experience in client services / dealing with the public
• 5 years’ experience driving Code 08

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Healthcare experience (e.g. care work)
• Driving passengers using PDP licence

• Emergency Evacuation plans
• English Proficiency (Read, speak and write)
• General Administration (completing log books, mail distribution)
• Health and Safety regulations
• Kinetic handling principles
• Knowledge of all road safety regulations
• Knowledge of cold chain maintenance
• Knowledge of infection control principles, medico-legal requirements, health and safety regulations, and fire safety procedures
• Knowledge of relevant blood bank regulations
• Knowledge of stock control principles and procedures
• Knowledge of telephone etiquette principles
• Medico Legal Risk (e.g. infection control and patient safety)
• Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Intranet)
• Patient Rights Charter
• PDP driving permit (transporting people)
• Route geographical awareness and reading maps / GPS
• Two-way radios
