Porter at Life Healthcare

• A vacancy for a Porter has become available at Life Kingsbury Hospital, Cape Town.  This position reports to Shaun Lawrence, Services Manager and will be part of a professional team that is continuously striving for the highest standards of quality in healthcare.

Critical Outputs

• Professional interaction with clients.
• Transport patients from reception to wads and vice versa
• Assist patients with wheelchair from vehicles to reception, emergency unit and via stretcher to respective wards from emergency unit.
• Porter patients requiring assistance on discharge from nursing unit or treatment area to hospital exit/vehicle.
• Check wheelchairs for cleanliness and whether in need of repairs.
• To collect and record all prescriptions cards, credits and requisitions from the wards.
• To record and deliver ethical and surgical stock to wards safely, securely and timeously.
• Moving furniture, stores and medical equipment safely.
• Setting up of venues for meetings and functions.
• Transferring files, specimen samples and pharmacy boxes to different areas in the hospital.
• Movement of cylinders of gas within the hospital.
• Performing general administrative and other related duties as requested.

Requirements

• Matric
• Physically fit, possess physical strength for heavy boxes, drive and energy
• Experience in working in customer service/dealing with customers
• Experience in working in healthcare will be an advantage
• Able to work in a team
• Responsible, meticulous and efficient.
• Good time management with the ability to work under pressure, independently and in a team.
• Ability to work shifts on a rotational basis. Night shift will be required
