Principal Librarian: Learning Support and Community Engagement - Grahamstown at Rhodes University

Purpose

• To direct and manage units responsible for user access and the delivery of Education and Training programmes to support innovative teaching and learning and coordinate community engagement projects. To provide strategic and operational management of User Access and Instructional services and drive service delivery by giving strategic input to the development of policies, processes, and student-centered services that enhance student experiences.

Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science (NQF level 8) OR a 3-year Degree, plus a 1-year Post-Graduate Library Diploma (NQF level 8) plus approximately 4 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -  

• Experience in an academic or research library
• Previous experience within community orientated projects
• Having worked in a computerised educational or research library
• Previous exposure to I.T. applications and electronic Library & information tools
• Previous experience working with Library instruction programmes and user services
• At least three years’ previous supervision or management experience in an academic or research library environment
