Procurement Officer at MECS (Pty) Ltd

Responsibilities: 

• Procurement Management: Support the Supply Chain Lead in procurement activities, ensuring objectives are met, and materials are acquired as specified, on time, and at the best price.
• Tender Processes: Handle RFQs, manage tender queries, analyze and adjudicate tenders commercially, and prepare recommendations for award.
• Supplier Coordination: Negotiate terms with suppliers, maintain communication logs, and ensure alignment with engineering and project requirements before issuing purchase orders.
• Documentation and Compliance: Maintain organized filing systems, ensure confidentiality, and manage purchase order closeouts, including notifications for penalties or delays.
• Expediting and Follow-Up: Oversee desk expediting for goods and documentation and coordinate the release of guarantees and cash retentions.

Qualification & Experience:

• High school education
• Diploma in a related field
• Experience of procurement in the mineral processing plant field
• Good interpersonal and communication skills for liaising with project personnel, suppliers & clients.
• Appreciation and participation in team behaviour within procurement & project team environments.
• Must be responsible, accurate and thorough in all areas.
• Thorough knowledge of and experience with computers and associated complex software packages.
