Product Owner (FinTech/Telecommunications)

Our client, a leading technology communications company in Europe and Africa, is looking to hire a ​Product Owner to join their team.

The ideal candidate has strong ecommerce and Fintech experience. The Headquarter is in Johannesburg. This position is remote. 

The objective of this role is to also put the customer at the heart of all operational activities, focusing on  channel optimization and performance. Gaining a full understanding of the technical workings of each  product and effectively communicating this to others.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• BCom degree required

• 3 years of Data Scientist experience

• Strong experience in data modelling, data visualisation ,Data Analytics and Insights, Data Management and Transformation and, AI - Deep and Machine Learning 

• Leading Organisation Culture and Change 

• Strategic Mindset 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develops and delivers key predictive models, statistical models and machine learning based tools and supports senior managers in the delivery of data science solutions for  complex commercial requirements; 

• Ensures Big Data solutions comply with data privacy laws; 

• Provides deep technical analytical and data expertise to the business and other Data  Scientists, using a wide variety of available data, to solve complex business problems;

• Manages the delivery of key packages of work, to time, budget and legislation, in a  collaborative manner to meet the needs of business customers; 

• Monitors and optimizes performance of developed models by driving experiments,  benchmarking, etc; 

• Uses a variety of datasets to test hypotheses, discover hidden relationships and  provide actionable insights to our client's businesses; 

• Uses data visualisation to engage audience in a compelling way, enabling effective  storytelling; 

• Maintains strong relations and interacts closely with stakeholders across the business  to advise and help solve complex problems; 

• Demonstrates strong communication skills, influencing the exchange of ideas and  information in a concise and logical way to reach the desired solutions; 

• Uses best practice knowledge to provide thought leadership that supports modelling  techniques, algorithms and being able to tune, modify and implement changes to  address different business problems / questions; 

• May provide informal guidance to junior members of the team.
