    Product Owner

    Job Title:  Product Owner

    Reports to: Director of Product

     

    Luminello is a US-based company with remote teams located globally. The product team is a fairly new concept at Luminello, so you will form part of a department that is growing and assisting the organization in implementing best practices. 

    We are looking for a mid-level Product Owner to assist the Product Manager/Director in delivering on the organization's roadmap. You will work closely with stakeholders as well as the development team to understand, refine and deliver on projects and initiatives while taking into consideration general maintenance and support as well as customer requests.

     

    The team you will be working with is fully remote, and we, therefore, have a strong focus on process and ongoing improvements on process. 

     

    Objectives:

    As a Product Owner at Luminello, you will form part of the product & engineering teams that are responsible for delivering on the product roadmap as well as maintaining the platform.

     

    You will work closely with the Product Manager/Director of Product to understand high-level business requirements, break these requirements down into actionable, incremental user stories and be responsible for prioritizing these user stories in the product backlog to meet the organization’s needs and product delivery timelines..

    You will work with business, technical and design stakeholders to ensure tickets are groomed and provide ongoing support to the development and QC teams during the development lifecycle by answering questions and feedback to businesses on progress updates, roadblocks, or challenges. 

     

    Responsibilities 

    • Attend and participate in daily stand-ups and other scrum ceremonies 

    • Refining high-level business requirements, and breaking these down into user stories 

    • Managing and prioritizing the backlog for various areas of the Product that you will be responsible 

    • Work with stakeholders to ensure that tickets are “Ready for development” within the required timeframes as to ensure that developers have a constant uninterrupted flow of work based on business priorities. This may require consultation with business, technical teams or designers

    • Obtain a deep understanding of Luminello, associated services or technologies

    • Obtain a deep understanding of the internal procedures within the team and outside of the team so that supporting departments can be considered when designing and delivering features.

    • Obtain a fair understanding of our system architecture and how the platform is put together 

     

    Competencies 

    • Must be a team player and value the power of working as an efficient team. There is no single person that can deliver features within Luminello; comradery forms an important role in the team culture. 

    • The ability to easily understand how systems and applications work and how they are pieced together and how applications are designed and connected 

    • The ability to solve business-related problems 

    • The ability to speak the same “language” as developers and understand software development principles  

    • The ability to identify risks and put forward options to mitigate risks both from a product and project management point of view 

    • Excellent written and verbal communication 

    • The ability to write detailed user stories while considering the impact to systems and users 

    Advantageous 

    • Basic understanding of some development with minimal experience developing 

    • Previous experience with SAAS platforms 

    • Previous experience working with teams that work on codeigniter or other PHP frameworks

    • Due to the location of the product team, applicants located in South Africa will be preferred 

    Expected work hours: Core working hours are from 3AM ET (USA) - 11AM ET ET (USA) with the expectation that some meetings will be attended later during the day due to team and customer location

    Remuneration: 10 - 15 USD per hour depending on experience.

     

    The initial probation period is 3 months, after which you will be permanently employed. As Luminello is a global company, we work on an hourly rate basis.
