Production and Repairs Manager at Booyco Electronics

Main Purpose of the Job

The Production and Repairs Manager is responsible for overseeing the production and repair operations within the electronic manufacturing facility. This role ensures that production processes are efficient, meet quality standards, and are completed on time. The manager also oversees the repair operations to ensure timely and effective servicing of products. The Production and Repairs Manager is a key leadership role that requires a strong background in electronic manufacturing, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage and motivate a team.

Education, experience and competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in production management within an electronic manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Proficiency in production planning software, ERP systems, and familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

Production Management:

• Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization.
• Continuously evaluate and enhance production processes for improved efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Oversee production to deliver high-quality products within agreed deadlines.
• Coordinate with internal departments to meet or exceed service level expectations.
• Ensure all products meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage materials, equipment, and manpower to ensure smooth production operations.
• Maintain accurate production records and generate regular reports for senior management.

Repairs Management:

• Manage the repair and maintenance of electronic products to ensure timely and effective service.
• Manage the process for diagnosing and resolving issues in defective products.
• Maintain detailed records of repair activities and outcomes.
• Manage the entire repair process to meet customer requirements.
• Manage the process for root cause analysis on faults discovered during repairs and provide feedback to branches and Engineering.
• Manage the process for determining if units are beyond economic repair or if a warranty replacement is appropriate and coordinate accordingly.
• Assist with actual electronic repairs and innovate systems to improve repair efficiency.

Team Leadership:

• Lead, train, and motivate a team of production and repair technicians to achieve performance goals.
• Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with other departments, including engineering, SOPS, quality assurance, and logistics, to ensure cohesive operations.
• Liaise with Field Service to understand their requirements and provide updates on repair status.

Reporting and Analysis:

• Analyse and compile reports on repaired units.
• Provide monthly root cause analysis reports.

Collaboration and Administration:

• Work with stores, sales, branch administrators, and repair technicians to ensure accurate information and data administration.
• Carry out periodic tests to verify data accuracy.

Continuous Improvement:

• Assist in implementing new processes to enhance repair and production efficiency.
• Identify and suggest potential areas for improvement.

Ad Hoc Duties:

• Support production, repairs and quality departments with additional requirements as needed.
