Production Operator Post Taphole/Auxilliary (Limpopo) at Samancor Chrome

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To safely operate the Furnaces auxiliaries to produce FeCr alloy

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

• Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
• Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Ensure SHEQ compliance within the Team through effective use of the Toolbox
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
• Adhere to all related SOP’s, PTO’s and CTO’s as per Training Matrix per position, SHEQ and company standards, policies and procedures.
• 5S Management

CUSTOMERS 

Ensure slurry with correct specific gravity as per standard operating procedure is sent to Tailex

BUSINESS PROCESSES 

Effluent Treatment Plant:

• Conduct physical inspection on the thickeners, pumps and evapco fans i.e. rake turning, mud level managed, thickener torque managed, pumps are operational, fans are operational, water temperatures are acceptable limits
• Ensure good housekeeping is maintained at the ETP
• Ensure thickener underflows are discharged as per SOP to tailex
• Ensure water level at the thickeners is maintained such that there is no bund wall overflow

Batching Plant:

• Conduct physical inspection on raw material feeders. i.e., check for material contaminations, material size (fines/oversize), run throughs during batches.
• Maintain good housekeeping at the batching plant.
• Take shiftily samples to laboratory
• Analyse moisture and capture on MES

Electrode management:

• Operate service hoist
• Operate gooseneck hoist
• Operate preheater hoist
• Load paste as per paste loading guideline

Other:

• Assist with cleaning the gooseneck
• Assist with changing the gooseneck
• Assist with Raw materials batching equipment challenges

Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

• Grade 12/N3
• 3 years' relevant experience
