Role Purpose:

• Ensures that all relevant and current MSI’s policies and guidelines are implemented at all service delivery sites

People & Development

• In the absence of the CM assume the role of acting CM role
• Promote team work amongst team members
• Relieving other centre staff when and where necessary to ensure the smooth running of the centre
• Promoting Marie Stopes South Africa formally by attending external functions (e.g. health talks, etc.)

Stock Management

• Ensure record keeping of stock is up to date and accurate and that proper stock levels are maintained
• Management of stock bins
• Ensure monthly physical stock count and timely submission of the stock report

Finances – Petty Cash

• Be responsible for the management of petty cash by ensuring that the minimum float is maintained
• Be responsible for requesting replenishment of petty cash
• Daily banking of cash as per MSSA policy by close of business each day
• Oversee cash collection by cash in transit company
• Conduct end of shift cash/bank reconciliation and send to Finance Department

Maintaining Cleanliness and IP Standards (HCU)

• Ensure that the HCU is kept neat and hygienically clean at all times
• Maintenance of a cleaning schedule as required:
• Mopping the floors daily at close of shift and ongoing during the day as required disinfectants on all horizontal clinic surfaces
• Procedure room is damp dusted on a daily basis. Insides of cupboards cleaned weekly low-risk area and high-risk areas
• Procedure table is sprayed and wiped with disinfectant between clients
• Make sure that the laundry is done daily (washing, drying and ironing) so that there is always fresh linen available
• JOB AIDS for the different stages of instrument processing are present in the instrument processing area and when protocols are updated they are replaced timeously
• Provide Emergency Management and participate in MEM (Medical Emergency Management) Drills as required at the HCUs and Centres
• Facilitate the transfer of cleaned instruments for sterilization and ensure that the adhesive tape on sterile packs visibly indicate that the autoclaving has been successful
• Proper use of antiseptics & disinfectants
• Maintenance of a waste management plan – contact Waste Management company to ensure timeous collection of waste bins
• Clinical waste and general waste are segregated and stored in different disposal areas
