    Professional Nurse


    • The clinical service professional nurse role is to ensure high quality standards are maintained in all aspects of clinical and customer service delivery
    • She/he forms an integral part of the clinical team and ensures that services are client centred, safe, effective and efficient
    • She/he is responsible and accountable for the provision of clinical services at a MSSA Centre
    • Ensures that all relevant and current MSI’s policies and guidelines are implemented at all service delivery sites
    • Ensures the clinical services follow all current MSI protocols
    • Service Provision
    • Attending to client’s needs, giving professional counselling, and dispensing of full range of contraceptives and antibiotics
    • Maintain record keeping of all clients seen


    Stock Management

    • Ensure record keeping of stock is up to date and accurate and that proper stock levels are maintained
    • Management of stock bins
    • Ensure monthly physical stock count and timely submission stock report


    Finances – Petty Cash

    • Be responsible for the management of petty cash by ensuring that the minimum float is maintained
    • Be responsible for requesting replenishment of petty cash
    • Daily banking of cash as per MSSA policy by close of business each day
    • Oversee cash collection by cash in transit company
    • Conduct end of shift cash/bank reconciliation and send to Finance Department


    Maintaining Cleanliness and IP Standards at Healthcare Unit (HCU)

    • Ensure that the centre is kept neat and hygienically clean at all times:
    • Maintenance of a cleaning schedule
    • Cleaning the toilets as often as needed to ensure clean at all times
    • Mopping the floors daily at close of shift and ongoing during the day as required disinfectants on all horizontal clinic surfaces
    • Procedure room is damp dusted on a daily basis. Insides of cupboards cleaned weekly low risk areas, high risk areas, and toilets
    • Procedure table is sprayed and wiped with disinfectant between clients
    • Make sure that the laundry is done daily (washing, drying and ironing) so that there is always fresh linen available
    • Washing of dishes as necessary
    • Cleaning the kitchen surfaces and cupboards
    • JOB AIDS are present in instrument processing area on different stages of instrument processing and when protocols are updated they are replaced timeously
    • Assist in Emergency Management and participate in MEM (Medical Emergency Management) Drills
    • Sterilization of instruments, daily and weekly maintenance of autoclave and the autoclave tape must visibly indicate that the autoclaving has bee successful
    • Proper use of antiseptics & disinfectants
    • Maintenance of a waste management plan
    • Clinical waste and general waste us segregated and stored in different disposal areas
