Professional Nurse PNA 3-4 CTOP (Choice Of Termination Of Pregnacy) Practitioner
Grade 12, Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in Nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse. A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate/recognizable experience in Nursing as a Professional nurse after registration with SANC in General nursing.
Certificate of attendance/ competency certificate in CTOP course is compulsory. A minimum of at least 3 years’ experience in CTOP will be added as an advantage.
Basic computer literacy is compulsory. Deep commitment to patient dignity, non-judgmental care and reproductive rights. Should have good communication, listening and problem-solving skills. Be prepared to work on weekend, public holidays and after hours if the need arises.
Duties :
Provide safe quality CTOP (Choice of Termination of pregnancy) services by adhering to the three Perinatal practice guidelines of CTOP that relate to termination of pregnancy. Be conversant with the legal framework.
Provide general nursing care and managing significant proportion of care for women undergoing termination of pregnancy, cervical screening, family planning, LLETZ and colposcopy. Ensure compliance to infection control principles, patients’ safety and waste management guidelines.
Ability to work under pressure. Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team. Proper and accurate record keeping. Maintenance of confidentiality and counselling skills.
Flexibility towards departmental needs. Planning and managing administration functions. Ability to utilize resources effectively, staff development and PMDS. Ensure compliance with Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance Framework.
Adherence to policies, regulations, protocols, guidelines and SOP. Compile, capture and analyze data monthly. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor that are related to the job description that is legislated.
